Services & Support
6 questionsNo. Desert Horizons is strictly non-medical and non-clinical. We do not provide nursing, administer medications, perform health assessments, assist with personal hygiene, or offer any service requiring a medical license.
Our focus is entirely on lifestyle support: errands, transportation, companionship, light home help, wellness check-ins, and daily independence. If medical or clinical care is needed, we will clearly refer families to appropriate licensed providers. We work alongside medical care — we don't try to replace it.
Non-medical · Non-clinical · Lifestyle support onlyVisits are shaped around what you actually need that day — not a fixed checklist. Common things include:
- Grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups, and errands
- Transportation to appointments, church, shopping, or anywhere else
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen tidying
- Meal preparation — the way you like it
- Companionship: conversation, walks, games, shared activities
- Mail sorting, bill reminders, home organization
- Medication reminders (we remind — we do not administer)
- Wellness and safety check-ins
You decide how your time is used each visit. Your concierge follows your lead.
Yes. Your concierge can help plan simple meals, prep ingredients, cook light dishes, and assist with cleanup. Meals are prepared the way you like them — your preferences, your recipes, your routines. We don't provide catering or full-time cooking, but we'll make sure a good meal happens during most visits if that's what you need.
Desert Horizons provides medication reminders and can help organize a pillbox to keep things on schedule. We can also assist with pharmacy pickups and refill reminders so prescriptions don't run out unexpectedly.
We cannot administer medications, handle prescriptions in a clinical way, or perform any medication-related task that requires a medical license. For those needs, a licensed home health provider is the right choice — and we're happy to help with that referral.
Yes. Light housekeeping is part of what your concierge does: tidying common areas, starting or finishing laundry, washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, organizing mail and paperwork, and generally keeping the home in a comfortable and safe state.
We don't offer deep cleaning or heavy physical labor — but the practical, ongoing home maintenance that keeps daily life running smoothly is very much part of our support.
Yes. Pets are an important part of many seniors' routines and emotional wellbeing. Your concierge can assist with pet feeding, short walks, transportation to vet appointments, and basic day-to-day pet care tasks. Just let us know what your pet needs and we'll work it into the visit.
Transportation
4 questionsYes — and this is one of our most-used services. Transportation to medical appointments isn't just a ride. Your concierge picks you up at home, assists into the clinic, stays through the waiting room, helps with paperwork, and remains present for the entire visit.
They can also note key instructions and relay them to approved family members afterward. No drop-offs. No waiting alone at any point.
Anywhere you want or need to go — not just medical visits. That includes:
- Grocery stores, pharmacies, and everyday errands
- Church, community events, and social outings
- Restaurants, coffee shops, and enjoyable outings
- The bank, post office, and personal stops
- Airport drop-offs and pick-ups
- Anywhere else that keeps you active and connected
The goal is to keep life moving — not just the medical parts of it.
Your concierge stays with you through the entire visit — waiting room, the appointment itself (if you'd like them present), and the trip home. No one waits in the parking lot. No sitting alone wondering how long things will take.
If you'd prefer privacy during the actual consultation, that's completely respected — but they'll be right outside until you're done.
Transportation is included as part of your concierge's visit time — there are no separate fees for driving. All plans include transportation, with volume increasing at higher tiers (e.g., Standard includes 1–2 appointment trips per month; Enhanced and Premium offer flexible transportation).
Time spent driving counts toward your monthly hours, but there are no surprise mileage charges or separate transportation invoices.
Safety & Privacy
5 questionsAlways. This is the core of how Desert Horizons works — one dedicated concierge per client, handling every visit. No rotating staff, no new faces, no explaining your routine to someone different every week.
The relationship that builds between a senior and their concierge — where routines are known, preferences are remembered, and trust is established — is where real comfort and quality of care live. That can only happen with consistency.
Completely. Everything shared during visits — personal details, household information, family situations, health conversations — is held in strict confidence. Your home and your life are private, and we treat them that way.
Visits are also designed to be discreet: no branded uniforms, no marked vehicles, nothing to signal to neighbors that support is happening. Support blends naturally into your daily life.
Yes. Every team member passes enhanced background screening and driving record verification before any client contact — no exceptions. Desert Horizons is also fully licensed and insured in Utah.
But credentials alone are a baseline. Desert Horizons hires specifically for character: patience, empathy, and the kind of maturity that seniors can sense immediately. If those qualities aren't present in a candidate, that person doesn't work here.
Licensed · Insured · Background screened · Character-firstYour privacy and independence are respected. Family updates are provided based on the plan level and — importantly — based on your preferences and approvals. We don't report everything to family without your knowledge.
If there is a genuine safety concern that requires family awareness, we will handle that communication thoughtfully and with your dignity in mind. Our goal is to keep everyone appropriately informed — not to monitor you or undermine your independence.
Absolutely. There are no contracts, no lock-in periods, and no pressure to continue if something doesn't feel right. Your comfort is the whole point.
We also start every new client relationship with a free in-home meet-and-greet — so you can meet your concierge and see how the dynamic feels before any service begins. No obligation at any step.
Cost & Plans
4 questionsFour flat monthly plans — no hourly billing, no surprise invoices:
- Essentials — $600/month · Approx. 4–5 hrs · Weekly visit, check-in calls, reminders, free safety audit
- Standard — $1,400/month · Approx. 10–12 hrs · Full weekly visits, 1–2 appointment transports, grocery, housekeeping, monthly family update
- Enhanced — $2,600/month · Approx. 20–22 hrs · 2–3 visits/week, flexible transport, meal prep, organization, community outings, weekly family updates
- Premium Concierge — $3,500/month · Approx. 30–32 hrs, limited to 3 clients · Half-day visits, full home management, crisis coordination, weekly family liaison
Custom plans are also available for situations that need something specific.
No contracts. Plans are month-to-month and can be changed, paused, or adjusted at any time as needs evolve. There is no penalty for making changes and no lock-in period. Desert Horizons stays flexible because life does.
Plans can be adjusted up at any time — you can add extra hours or move to a higher tier when life calls for more support. There's no penalty for this, and Jill will proactively suggest it if she notices a situation that seems to need more coverage than the current plan provides.
Everything is billed monthly at a flat rate — you choose a plan tier and that's your monthly cost. No hourly tracking, no per-visit invoicing, no variable charges. One predictable number every month.
This is intentional: unpredictable billing creates stress and uncertainty. Desert Horizons is built around the opposite — clear, consistent, foreseeable costs that families can plan around.
For Families
5 questionsLong-distance families are one of Desert Horizons' most common client situations — and regular, honest communication is built into every plan. Standard includes monthly updates; Enhanced and Premium include weekly family updates. Premium clients have a dedicated family liaison.
Updates cover how visits went, what was done, how your parent is doing, and anything that may need attention. You'll never be left guessing, and Jill is reachable directly by phone or email whenever you need to check in.
For many families, yes — particularly at the Enhanced and Premium plan levels. These plans provide the consistent, multi-day-per-week support that families often seek when considering a facility — but delivered in the senior's own home.
The key advantages: seniors stay in the environment they know, maintain control over their daily routines, and avoid the disruption and institutional feel of a facility. For seniors who don't require clinical or round-the-clock medical care, Desert Horizons often provides equivalent peace of mind at a comparable or lower cost.
Desert Horizons can support clients who benefit from gentle reminders, daily structure, calm companionship, and consistent safe supervision. The predictability of having the same person visit reliably is particularly valuable for individuals with mild to moderate memory changes.
We cannot provide clinical dementia care, cognitive therapy, or skilled memory treatment. For clients with significant cognitive decline, we recommend combining our support with a licensed memory care provider — and we're happy to assist with that coordination.
Concierges are trained to notice meaningful changes and communicate them clearly and promptly to approved family contacts. This includes physical changes (a fall hazard, unusual bruising), behavioral shifts (increased confusion, withdrawal, mood change), and home environment concerns (fridge empty, mail piling up).
Early awareness prevents larger problems. In a genuine emergency, appropriate services are contacted immediately and family is notified as quickly as possible. We don't minimize concerns — we communicate them.
Yes. Assisted living facilities operate at scale — one-on-one time and personal outings are hard to come by. Many families use Desert Horizons to provide the individual attention a facility can't: private outings, personal appointments, one-on-one companionship, and errands the facility doesn't handle.
This is particularly valued by families whose parent is in a facility but still capable and desirous of a richer personal life.
Getting Started
4 questionsOne conversation is all it takes. Call 801-971-3103 or email jill@deserthorizons.io to speak directly with Jill — not a form, not a call center. She listens, answers questions, and helps identify the right plan.
From there: a free in-home meet-and-greet is scheduled so the senior can meet their concierge before any commitment. No pressure, no obligation at any step.
No. The process starts with a free consultation and a free in-home meet-and-greet — both with no obligation. You get to meet your concierge, see how it feels, and decide from there. No paperwork required until you've decided it's right for you.
And once you start, there are no contracts. If something changes, you can adjust or stop at any time.
This is one of the most common and delicate situations families face. Jill has experience navigating it. A few thoughts:
- Starting with a no-pressure meet-and-greet — framed as a visit rather than "getting help" — often opens the door more naturally than a formal service announcement
- Starting with the Essentials plan keeps it light, low-commitment, and non-threatening
- Framing the concierge as a companion rather than a caregiver shifts the dynamic significantly
Call Jill to talk through your specific situation. She can often suggest an approach that respects the senior's autonomy while still getting support started.
