About Desert Horizons
5 questionsDesert Horizons is a locally owned, non-medical senior concierge service based in Southern Utah, founded by Jill Johnson. We provide in-home and community-based lifestyle support for older adults who want to remain independent but need help with daily tasks.
That includes transportation to appointments, errands, grocery shopping, companionship, meal prep, light housekeeping, wellness check-ins, and help navigating everyday life. All services are delivered by one dedicated concierge โ not a rotating agency staff. We serve Washington County and surrounding communities.
No. Desert Horizons is strictly non-medical and non-clinical. We do not provide nursing care, administer medications, perform health assessments, assist with personal hygiene, or offer any service that requires a medical or clinical license.
Our focus is entirely on lifestyle support, daily independence, and companionship. If a client requires medical, clinical, or skilled nursing care, we will recommend appropriate licensed providers in the area.
Non-medical ยท Non-clinical ยท Lifestyle support onlyDesert Horizons serves seniors throughout Washington County, Utah and surrounding communities, including:
- St. George
- Hurricane
- Washington City
- Ivins
- Santa Clara
- La Verkin
- Toquerville
- Virgin
- Springdale

Desert Horizons is a great fit for:
- Seniors living alone who want to stay independent but find daily tasks getting harder over time
- Families living out of state who want consistent, trustworthy support and regular updates on a loved one
- Active older adults who want a trusted companion for outings, errands, and appointments
- Primary caregivers (spouses, family members) who need consistent relief without handing things over to a stranger
- Anyone recovering from surgery or illness who needs temporary non-medical support at home
- Couples who both benefit from regular concierge help with errands, home tasks, and outings
The biggest difference is consistency. Most home care agencies send whoever is available โ which often means a different person at every visit. That creates anxiety, confusion, and relationships that never deepen.
Desert Horizons gives every client one dedicated concierge who learns their routines, preferences, and personality โ and gets better every single week. This isn't shift work. It's a genuine relationship built over time, which is where real trust and comfort come from.
We're also non-medical โ not competing with clinical care, but filling the important gap between full independence and medical need.
Services & Support
7 questionsA wide range of everyday support, including:
- Transportation to medical appointments, pharmacy, grocery, errands, and social outings
- Grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups, and returns
- Meal preparation and simple cooking
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and home organization
- Companionship โ walks, games, conversation, outings
- Appointment companion services โ staying through the visit and relaying information to family
- Wellness and safety check-ins
- Medication and appointment reminders (non-administering)
- Mail sorting, bill reminders, and paperwork support
- Coordination with home repair vendors and contractors
- Pet care assistance โ feeding, walks, vet appointments

Yes. Transportation is included in all plans and is one of the most-used services. We provide safe, reliable rides to medical appointments, specialist visits, the pharmacy, grocery stores, social outings, church, the airport, and anywhere else the senior wants or needs to go.
Importantly, the concierge stays with the client the entire time โ no drop-offs, no waiting alone. If the appointment is long, we wait. We can also help with paperwork, take notes, and relay information to approved family members afterward.
Desert Horizons can support clients who benefit from gentle reminders, routine structure, companionship, and calm, consistent supervision during daily activities. The predictability of having the same person every visit is particularly comforting for individuals with mild to moderate memory challenges.
We cannot provide clinical dementia care, cognitive therapy, or skilled memory care treatment. For clients with significant cognitive decline, we recommend combining our support with a licensed memory care provider. We're happy to help families coordinate that.
Yes. Recovery periods are one of the most common situations families turn to Desert Horizons for. We help with errands, transportation to follow-up appointments, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and general at-home support during recovery.
We do not provide skilled nursing care, wound care, or any clinical medical support โ but we can handle all of the daily logistics so recovery is easier and safer at home.
Yes. We can help with pet feeding, short walks, vet appointment transportation, and basic day-to-day pet care support. Pets are an important part of many seniors' lives and routines, and we're happy to include that in the support we provide.
Yes. We can assist with organizing living spaces, sorting personal items, light decluttering, coordinating donation drop-offs, and preparing for a move or home transition. This is available as part of Enhanced and Premium plans, or as an add-on service on other plans. We approach this work calmly, without judgment, and at the pace that feels right.
To be completely transparent, the following are outside our scope:
- Skilled nursing care or medical treatment of any kind
- Medication administration (we can remind, not administer)
- Personal hygiene assistance (bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Wound care or post-surgical clinical support
- Physical or occupational therapy
- Clinical dementia or memory care
- Financial or legal advisory services
If any of these are needed, we will help connect families with the appropriate licensed professionals.
Non-medical ยท Lifestyle support onlyPlans & Pricing
4 questionsDesert Horizons offers four flat monthly plans โ no hourly billing, no surprise invoices:
- Essentials โ $600/month (approx. 4โ5 hours): Weekly in-person visit, check-in calls, reminders, free home safety audit
- Standard โ $1,400/month (approx. 10โ12 hours): Full weekly visits, transportation to appointments, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, monthly family update
- Enhanced โ $2,600/month (approx. 20โ22 hours): 2โ3 visits per week, flexible transportation, meal planning, home organization, community outings, weekly family updates
- Premium Concierge โ $3,500/month (approx. 30โ32 hours, limited to 3 clients): Half-day visits 3โ4 times per week, full home management, crisis coordination, priority scheduling, weekly family liaison
Custom plans are also available for situations that don't fit neatly into a tier. Email jill@deserthorizons.io to discuss.
Monthly plans are intentional โ not just a billing preference. They're what makes everything else work.
Hourly models create unpredictability: variable invoices, inconsistent staff, and visits that feel transactional. Monthly plans create a stable routine โ the same person, the same schedule, week after week. That consistency is exactly what seniors thrive on.
Families also benefit: one predictable monthly cost, no guessing how many hours were used, no confusing invoices. You know what you're getting and what it costs.
No contracts. Plans are month-to-month and can be changed, paused, or adjusted at any time as needs evolve. There is no penalty for making changes, and no lock-in period. We want families to feel comfortable, not committed.
Yes. If your situation calls for something specific โ extra weekly hours, overnight support, travel companionship, seasonal help, or a unique schedule โ Jill will work with you to build a plan around exactly what you need. Email jill@deserthorizons.io or call 801-971-3103 to discuss custom options.
Safety & Trust
4 questionsYes, absolutely. All Desert Horizons team members pass enhanced background screening and driving record verification before any client contact โ no exceptions.
Desert Horizons is also fully licensed in Utah and carries appropriate business insurance. But credentials alone are a baseline. We hire specifically for character: patience, empathy, and the kind of maturity that seniors can sense immediately. If those qualities aren't present, the person doesn't work here.
Licensed ยท Insured ยท Background screened ยท Character-firstYes โ always. This is one of the most important things that sets Desert Horizons apart from traditional agencies. You are matched with one dedicated concierge and that's who shows up, every time. No strangers, no rotating staff, no explaining your routines to someone new every week.
The relationship that builds over time โ where your concierge knows your preferences, your home, and your habits โ is where real trust and comfort live.
Always. Client information, routines, personal details, and household situations are kept strictly confidential. Our model is also designed to be discreet โ no uniforms, no signage, no disruption to the senior's daily environment. Visits are private, familiar, and low-profile by design.
Our concierges are trained to identify and communicate safety risks in the home and community. If a concern is noticed โ a fall hazard, a change in physical or emotional condition, a home maintenance issue โ it is communicated promptly to approved family contacts.
For emergencies, we follow standard emergency protocols and contact the appropriate services immediately. Regular visits mean we catch changes early, which is one of the most valuable aspects of consistent concierge care.
For Families
3 questionsYes, and this is one of our most common situations. Many of our clients have adult children who live in other states and need a trusted, consistent person on the ground in Southern Utah. We handle the day-to-day support and keep families informed with regular updates โ so they feel connected and reassured even from a distance.
Long-distance families particularly appreciate the combination of wellness monitoring, transportation to appointments, and honest communication that our model provides.
Regular family updates are built into every plan. The frequency depends on the plan level โ monthly on Standard, weekly on Enhanced and Premium. Updates are honest and practical: what was accomplished during the visit, how the senior is doing, anything noticed that may need attention.
For Premium Concierge clients, Jill serves as a dedicated family liaison, available for more direct and ongoing communication. Families can always reach Jill directly at 801-971-3103 or jill@deserthorizons.io.
For many families, yes โ particularly at the Enhanced and Premium plan levels. Our Enhanced plan (approx. 20โ22 hours/month) and Premium Concierge plan (approx. 30โ32 hours/month) provide the level of consistent, daily support that many families seek when considering a facility โ but in the senior's own home.
The key advantage is that seniors stay in the environment they know, maintain control over their routines, and avoid the disruption and institutional feel of a facility. For seniors who don't require clinical or medical care, Desert Horizons can often provide equivalent peace of mind at a comparable or lower cost.
Getting Started
3 questionsGetting started takes one conversation. Here's how it works:
- Step 1: Call 801-971-3103 or email jill@deserthorizons.io. You'll speak directly with Jill โ not a form or a receptionist.
- Step 2: Jill listens to your situation and helps you identify which plan makes the most sense.
- Step 3: A free in-home meet-and-greet is scheduled so your loved one can meet their concierge before any commitment is made.
- Step 4: Support begins. First visits focus on the most important priorities. Family communication is established.
- Step 5: Adjust any time. Plans are flexible and evolve as needs change.
There are no contracts, no obligation after the consultation, and no pressure at any step.
Yes. Every new client relationship begins with a free consultation โ a no-pressure conversation where Jill learns about your situation, answers your questions, and helps determine whether Desert Horizons is the right fit. You can book this online at deserthorizons.io/appointments or simply call 801-971-3103.
A free in-home meet-and-greet with the dedicated concierge is also part of the onboarding process, so your loved one can get comfortable before any service begins.
Plans can be changed at any time โ no penalty, no complicated process. If your loved one needs more hours, a different schedule, or additional types of support, we adjust. If a situation improves and less support is needed, that's fine too.
Desert Horizons is designed to stay flexible as life evolves. Jill will regularly check in to make sure the plan still fits, and will proactively suggest adjustments if she notices something has changed.
